Filming

About using the camera.

Do our guests need camcorder experience?

Not at all. The camcorder arrives prepared and ready to use, with simple instructions and prompts inside the kit. If someone can point the camera and press record, they can use it.

Who should we give the camera to first?

Start with someone who won’t be afraid to pick it up and get things moving.

A sibling, cousin, college roommate, wedding-party member, or friend who knows a lot of people is usually perfect. They don’t need to carry it all day.

Let them start filming, then pass it around.

Does one person need to film the whole wedding?

No — and we’d rather they didn’t.

The Weekend Tape works best when the camera moves between people throughout the weekend. Nobody should spend your wedding feeling like they were assigned the job of being the videographer.

What should our guests film?

Whatever feels worth remembering.

Getting ready. Reactions. Messages to you. Cocktail hour. The dance floor. The ride somewhere. Late-night conversations.

There is no shot list to complete. The less it feels like a production, the better.

Can we use it for the whole wedding weekend?

Yes. The camera is yours for the weekend, and there are no hourly coverage limits.

Use it at the welcome party, getting ready, the wedding, the after-party, Sunday brunch, or anywhere else along the way.

What if our friends don’t film very much?

Because your guests are the ones filming, we can’t guarantee how much footage they’ll record.

The best thing you can do is start the camera with someone outgoing who will get people comfortable with it. The prompts included in the kit also give everyone an easy place to start.

What comes in the Weekend Tape kit?

Your standard kit includes one Sony 4K camcorder, a high-capacity 256GB memory card, three batteries, battery charger, small LED camera light, protective case, camcorder carry bag, and printed 5×7 quick-start instructions, filming tips, prompts, and return guidance.

How much can we record?

A lot.

Your kit includes a high-capacity 256GB memory card and three batteries. We don’t charge or limit you based on hours. Record as much as you want while the camera is with you, and recharge batteries between events or overnight as needed.

Can we choose two camcorders?

Yes. Choose the Dual Camcorder Kit for $845. It includes two complete, independent Weekend Tape kits — not simply another camera.

Each kit includes its own Sony 4K camcorder, high-capacity 256GB memory card, three batteries, charger, LED light, protective case, camcorder carry bag, and printed guidance.

That means the two kits can be in completely different places at the same time, which is especially useful for separate getting-ready locations, larger weddings, or different parts of the weekend happening at once.

What if something isn’t working?

Every kit is checked and prepared before it leaves us.

If something doesn’t seem right when it arrives, contact us as soon as possible. We’ll help troubleshoot it quickly.

A wedding weekend can’t be recreated, so we take the preparation seriously.

What happens if the camera is lost or damaged?

The equipment is your responsibility while it is in your care.

Loss, damage, and replacement responsibilities are explained in the Rental Agreement you agree to when booking.

Shipping + Returns

Getting it there and back.

When will our kit arrive?

We plan for your kit to arrive approximately 3 days before your wedding date. That gives you a little breathing room for possible shipping delays and time to check out the camera before the wedding begins.

The rental period is one week, giving you time to film the events leading up to the wedding, the wedding itself, and the moments that follow.

If you are traveling for the wedding, we can work with you on timing so delivery makes sense. We can also ship to your wedding planner if that is the best handoff.

Standard shipping both ways is included.

What if our wedding weekend starts earlier?

Reach out before booking if your wedding events begin earlier in the week or your wedding is coming up quickly.

We can look at your travel and event dates and help with the best shipping plan. Rush Delivery is available for $95 when kit and carrier availability allow.

How do we return the kit?

Return instructions are included with your kit.

Put everything back into the case, follow the included shipping instructions, and send it home.

You don’t need to download, upload, or transfer any footage yourself.

When does the camera need to be returned?

Please return your Weekend Tape kit within three business days after your wedding.

If you’ll be leaving for your honeymoon right away, you may want to put a trusted friend, family member, or wedding-party member in charge of the return. You can also drop the kit off before you leave if your travel timing allows.

Late-return terms are outlined in the Rental Agreement.

How long is the finished Weekend Tape?

Your finished Weekend Tape is approximately 3–5 minutes.

The exact length depends on the footage your guests capture, but the goal is a concise, nostalgic Weekend Tape that brings together the strongest moments from the weekend.

Do we get the raw footage too?

Yes. You receive your finished Weekend Tape plus all usable raw footage from the weekend.

Usable raw clips are generally delivered to your online gallery within 72 hours after we receive the returned kit.

What does “usable raw footage” mean?

Usable raw footage means recordings that were properly captured and contain viewable content.

Accidental clips with no meaningful content, corrupted recordings, or files that cannot be viewed may not be included.

How long does editing take?

Your finished Weekend Tape is generally delivered within 3–5 weeks after we receive the returned kit.

When capacity allows, Rush Edit is available for $175 and delivers the finished Weekend Tape within 10 business days after we receive the returned kit. Rush Edit is separate from Rush Delivery.

Whether you choose standard or Rush Edit, your usable raw clips are generally delivered to your online gallery within 72 hours after we receive the returned camcorder kit.

How long do we have access to our footage?

Your finished Weekend Tape and all usable raw clips remain available in your online gallery for one year.

That gives you plenty of time to watch, download, and save everything you want to keep.

Can we send you drone footage or other clips to include?

Yes. You can send supplemental footage digitally after the wedding for consideration, including drone footage, phone clips, or footage from another camera.

We may incorporate outside clips when they fit the story, but submitted footage is not guaranteed to be used.

What if there is footage we don’t want in the finished Tape?

If something appears in the finished Weekend Tape that you would prefer removed, contact us and we can review the request with you.

Your raw footage is delivered separately as it was recorded.

How It Fits Into Your Wedding

What this is — and what it isn’t.

Does The Weekend Tape replace a wedding videographer?

No.

If pristine ceremony audio, polished cinematic coverage, and complete professional documentation are important to you, hire a wedding filmmaker.

The Weekend Tape was made to capture something different: the part of your wedding happening outside your field of view.

Your photographer shows you what the wedding looked like. Your filmmaker shows you how the wedding unfolded. The Weekend Tape shows you what it felt like to the people you invited.

Why not just have everyone use their phones?

You absolutely can.

The difference is that phones usually create individual clips scattered across individual camera rolls.

A camcorder creates participation. It gets passed around. People talk into it. Someone keeps recording. The camera becomes part of the weekend.

And when it’s over, all of that footage comes home together.

How much does The Weekend Tape cost?

Choose one of two camcorder setups:

Single Camcorder Kit — $595
Dual Camcorder Kit — $845

Every booking includes the ready-to-film kit or kits, standard shipping both ways, your edited 3–5 minute Weekend Tape, all usable raw footage, and one year of online gallery access.

Optional upgrades include the Extended Weekend Tape for $195, Rush Edit for $175, and Keepsake USB + Wooden Box for $195. Rush Delivery is $95 when required for a close wedding date.

How does payment work?

If your wedding is more than 60 days away, your date is reserved with a $150 non-refundable reservation payment. The remaining balance is due 60 days before the wedding.

If your wedding is 60 days away or less, the booking is paid in full.

Your date is officially reserved once your booking agreement is signed and the required reservation payment or full payment has been completed.

What is the Extended Weekend Tape?

The standard Weekend Tape is approximately 3–5 minutes. The Extended Weekend Tape is an additional $195 and turns more of the moments, voices, and reactions into an approximately 8–10 minute Weekend Tape.

It is available with either the Single Camcorder Kit or the Dual Camcorder Kit.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as you know you want it.

The Weekend Tape uses physical camera kits, so availability for a particular weekend can become limited.

What if our date is unavailable?

If your date is unavailable, we’ll let you know right away and help you understand the options available for your weekend.

What is the cancellation policy?

For weddings more than 60 days away, the $150 reservation payment is non-refundable.

Once a kit has shipped, the booking is non-refundable except where required by law or otherwise agreed to in writing.

Full cancellation, postponement, payment, and rental terms are provided in your booking agreement and Rental Agreement.

Want to See It Instead?
